How We Build
30 years of concrete construction, refined into a process you can trust.
Built on experience, not guesswork.
Every structure NZ Concrete Group builds follows a process refined over three decades of work across New Zealand. Whether it is a residential home, a commercial development, or civil infrastructure, the fundamentals are the same: thorough planning, quality materials, experienced crews, and standards that exceed the code.
We are not a labour-hire company that sends bodies to site. We are concrete specialists who take ownership of the build from foundation to finished structure.
Our Process
From ground to structure.
Site Assessment & Engineering
Every project starts with a thorough assessment of ground conditions, seismic zone requirements, and structural demands. Our engineers design the foundation and structural systems to match the specific needs of your site — no generic solutions.
Formwork & Reinforcement
Precision formwork is erected to the structural engineer's specifications. Steel reinforcing is placed within the wall or slab cavity, designed to NZS 3101 and tailored for seismic loading, wind zones, and span requirements. All steel is inspected before any concrete is placed.
Concrete Placement
High-performance concrete is pump-placed in controlled lifts, vibrated to eliminate air pockets and ensure full consolidation around the reinforcing steel. We monitor slump, temperature, and placement rate throughout every pour — quality is non-negotiable.
Curing & Finishing
Concrete cures within the formwork for the specified period to reach design strength. Forms are then carefully stripped, revealing the finished structure. Every surface is inspected against the specification before the next stage proceeds.

Our Method
Introducing ThermaCast™.
Our insulated in-situ concrete system for residential homes. Warmer, stronger, quieter — engineered to outperform timber frame in every measure.
Insulated concrete, done differently.
ThermaCast is our approach to insulated concrete construction. Polystyrene insulation is sandwiched between two reinforced concrete panels — an outer and an inner skin — cast in a single in-situ pour. Both faces are concrete. The inner face provides thermal mass, absorbing heat during the day and releasing it at night. The outer face forms the structural and weather envelope.
For architects, this is a significant advantage: both the interior and exterior surfaces are concrete, giving full design freedom on either face — exposed aggregate, polished finish, or raw texture. The insulation is permanently integrated within the wall. No separate insulation trade. No timber framing. One pour, one wall, complete.
Explore residential buildsThermal Performance
R-values exceeding NZ Building Code H1 requirements. Passive thermal regulation through the inner concrete skin — integrated thermal mass in a single wall.
Seismic Resilience
Solid reinforced concrete walls engineered to NZS 3101. No bracing lines, no weak points.
Acoustic Insulation
200mm+ of concrete mass blocks external noise far more effectively than timber-frame wall assemblies.
Longevity
Concrete does not rot, warp, or attract insects. A ThermaCast home is built for 100+ years, not 50.
Standards
Quality is not a department. It is how we work.
NZS 3101 Compliance
All structural concrete designed and placed to the New Zealand Concrete Structures Standard. Full engineering sign-off on every project.
Site Safety
Comprehensive H&S systems, toolbox meetings, and hazard management. Everyone goes home safe — no exceptions.
Experienced Crews
No apprentices learning on your job. Our teams are experienced concrete professionals with years of hands-on construction behind them.
